QuickCheck: Did VVIPs at a ministry test positive for Covid-19?

A claim has been made on Twitter that many people in the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry "VVIP group" have tested positive for Covid-19. The allegation, which has since gone viral, also claims that nobody was quarantined. Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In a statement issued through the Communications and Multimedia Ministry's Quick Response Team, the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry denied the allegations in the Jan 13 Twitter post.

It said that no VVIP at the Ministry had tested positive for Covid-19 and added that it is always monitoring and ensuring compliance with the standard operating procedures set by the government.

"The public is advised not to easily trust any information on social media that isn’t from a valid source, and to check the official websites and social media channels of the ministries, departments or agencies to obtain the most accurate and timely updates," it added.
