SOME 34,000 consumer accounts across four Kelantan districts are expected to face water supply disruptions following a leak in a raw water pipeline in Sungai Bagan, reported Berita Harian.
Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) said the leak has disrupted operations at the Merbau Chondong Water Treatment Plant, affecting consumers in Machang, Pasir Puteh, south Kota Baru and east Kota Baru.
“Water supply is expected to recover by Friday afternoon or Saturday,” AKSB said in a statement on Wednesday.
The company said it would send water tankers and contracted water trucks during repairs.
It also said operators from several other states would assist with water distribution, particularly to hospitals, dialysis centres, prisons and university hostels.
> A group of street entertainers performing at a pedestrian crossing near Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan in Melaka are earning over RM1,200 a month through public donations, reported Kosmo!.
The performers sing, play a kompang-like instrument and wear character costumes to attract tourists at the busy crossing, sparking safety concerns.
One of the performers, Syukur Abdullah, 56, said he earns up to RM1,200 a month from public donations but denied begging.
“I don’t burden society or ask people for money, but people give me money anyway when I perform,” he said when met by the daily in Banda Hilir on Wednesday.
The issue recently went viral on social media, prompting an inspection by the Melaka Social Welfare Department (JKM), the city council and police.
State JKM director Halyjah Muhammad said Syukur was advised to stay home while officers review his eligibility for welfare assistance and consider further support.

“Every night, Adam made sure I jogged at least three kilometres without stopping,” she told reporters after attending the premiere of the film Tiket Sehala at TGV Sunway Pyramid on Wednesday.
The actress, whose real name is Farhanna Qismina Supand, said she also reduced her food intake and stopped consuming sugary foods to improve her stamina for the physically demanding role.
