Negri polls: Favourable weather forecast on polling day, says MetMalaysia


PORT DICKSON: Voters in Negri Sembilan can expect generally favourable weather when they head to the polls on Saturday (Aug 1),

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), clear skies are expected at Jelebu, Jempol, Kuala Pilah, Port Dickson, Rembau, Seremban and Tampin during the earlier parts of the day.

Thunderstorms, however, are forecasted across all districts except for Port Dickson during the evening.

MetMalaysia also said temperatures are expected to range between 23 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius on polling day.

Previously, the Election Commission targeted a turnout ranging between 72% and 75%.

A total of 103 candidates are contesting the 36 state seats.

Pakatan Harapan is contesting all 36 seats, while Barisan Nasional is contesting 25.

Perikatan Nasional is contesting 11 seats, while Bersatu is contesting 24 under its own party logo.

Berjasa, Parti Orang Asli Malaysia and Parti Sosialis Malaysia are fielding one candidate each, while four Independent candidates are also in the fray.
