Melaka polls Internal review underway to gauge voters' response to PH candidates, says Adly

MELAKA: Pakatan Harapan is conducting an internal assessment to gauge voters' response to its candidates, including their strengths, weaknesses and areas that need improvement, as campaigning for the Melaka state election enters its final stretch.

Melaka Pakatan chairman Adly Zahari said the coalition was monitoring developments across all 24 state constituencies it is contesting, with feedback expected to help identify areas requiring further attention.

"We are also conducting our own internal analysis. I believe that in the next few days, we will receive feedback from each of the state constituencies we are contesting.

"This includes voters' responses, the candidates' weaknesses and strengths, and what needs to be improved," he said during a press conference here on Sunday (Nov 8).

Adly, who is also Deputy Defence Minister, said Pakatan's election machinery was currently focused on the 24 constituencies, with candidates having spent the initial campaigning period introducing themselves and their priorities to voters.

He said that with only five days of campaigning remaining starting Monday (Nov 9), most Pakatan candidates had become familiar faces among their respective communities.

"Generally, our candidates are already known to the public. The next stage is how we convince voters to give us their support.

"I can see that our candidates have been actively meeting the people and raising issues affecting their communities," he said.

Adly cited the coalition's candidates in Klebang (Farzana Nasir) and Kuala Linggi (Mukhlis Mubin), who have been highlighting issues involving fishermen, land reclamation, cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

He said the coalition's candidate in Paya Rumput, Datuk Azman Abidin, was also familiar to local voters, while Datuk Ginie Lim (Machap Jaya) had consistently championed the welfare of the Orang Asli community regardless of whether she held elected office.

"Although they are a minority, they are part of our society and must not be left behind," he said.

He also pointed to Pakatan's Sungai Rambai candidate, Aminuddin Abdul Jalil, who has been raising issues involving the people's economy, particularly agriculture.

Adly said the remaining campaign period would be crucial for voters to evaluate the candidates and their proposals before making their decisions.

"The initial period was about introducing the candidates and their direction.

"The next five days will be the period for building public confidence in supporting Pakatan Harapan," he said.

He added that Pakatan's campaign strategy would continue to focus on communicating its plans and achievements at both the state and federal government levels.

"If that information reaches the people, we are confident that Melaka voters can give their support to Pakatan Harapan," he said.
