AYER KEROH: Quit rent rates in Melaka will remain the same for five years if Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional form the state government in the upcoming Melaka polls, says Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
The caretaker Chief Minister also said shoppers will get 30% off chicken and meat at the Jualan Melaka Sayang Rakyat (Mesra) sales, a state government initiative.
Speaking at a press conference after launching the coalitions' joint manifesto on Friday (Nov 6), Ab Rauf said the discounts would be offered through the MeSRa sales programme, which is held periodically.

He said the 113 initiatives in the manifesto had been placed under three implementation timeframes of 100 days, one year and five years respectively, based on the scope and needs of each.
Free water for households using less than 20 cubic metres a month and the construction of 25,000 affordable homes in five years were among the main offers announced at the launch earlier.
On the economy, Ab Rauf said the coalitions aimed to draw RM30bil in investments and create 25,000 job opportunities through new industrial areas and high-tech sectors.

He said more than 15,000 TVET graduates would be trained, with Melaka to be developed into a TVET hub.
Young people will also be offered free training in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, along with entrepreneurship grants.
On housing, those building homes on their own land will be offered loans of up to RM80,000.
The Melaka Rumahku programme, which builds new homes and repairs existing ones for families in need, will continue.
The RM1,000 aid for Melaka students enrolling at Universiti Islam Melaka and the Melaka International College of Science and Technology will also continue.
Ab Rauf said a review of the previous manifesto for the 2021 to 2026 term found that 95% of it had been implemented.
"This is an important basis for us to keep assessing the implementation of the new offers transparently and responsibly," he said.
He said the manifesto was guided by the principle of "no one is left behind", covering all races and religions.
Polling for the Melaka State Election is on Nov 14.
