MELAKA: Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional have pooled their strategic expertise to produce a joint election manifesto aimed at addressing the needs of Melaka residents, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (pic).
The PAS secretary-general said Perikatan had contributed four or five strategists to work alongside their Barisan counterparts in drawing up the manifesto ahead of the Nov 14 state election.
“We sent four or five of our strategists to work with Barisan Nasional in preparing the manifesto.
“We see this as a targeted manifesto, and we are confident that its promises can be fulfilled,” he told reporters after the launch of the Barisan Nasional-Perikatan Nasional joint manifesto on Friday (Nov 6).
Takiyuddin said the collaboration would strengthen the coalitions’ ability to deliver on their election pledges, citing the previous state administration’s track record.
“More than 90%, or 97%, of the previous manifesto commitments were fulfilled.
“With the cooperation between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional, we are confident our ability to deliver will improve further,” he said.
He said the manifesto placed particular emphasis on the cost of living, education, housing and other essential needs, with proposed benefits covering residents from newborns to senior citizens.
“I do not see any important aspect that has been left out.
“We believe this will open a new chapter for the people of Melaka, with a government that places their interests first,” he said.
Turning to Perikatan’s electoral prospects, Takiyuddin expressed optimism that the close cooperation between the two coalitions would help secure victories in all five state constituencies contested by Perikatan.
“I am very optimistic that we can convince the people of Melaka to give us the mandate in all five constituencies,” he said.
Barisan is contesting 23 of the 28 state seats, while Perikatan is fielding candidates in the remaining five under their electoral cooperation arrangement.
