KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has yet to finalise its line-up for the Dec 12 Sarawak polls, says Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.
"No rush. Still two weeks to go," said the PBB president, referring to the Nov 28 date for nomination day.
When asked if PBB MP would trade their parliamentary seat for a state seat, the caretaker Premier said it is not party policy for its members to hold state and Federal seats simultaneously.
He said this practice dates back to the late Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud's time, to ensure that the party's elected representatives focus on one constituency and give quality service.
"The party values improvements," he said on Sunday (Nov 8).
Speculation is rife that Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is Kapit MP, will contest one of the three state seats within the Federal constituency.
PBB holds two of the three Dayak-majority seats in Kapit, namely Katibas and Bukit Goram, while Pelagus is held by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).
PBB, the lynchpin of the four-party Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, will be contesting 47 of 82 seats in the coming election.
Other parties in GPS are PRS, Sarawak United People's Party ( SUPP) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
