FROM a simple rescue to a beloved companion, a man’s bond with a blind cat has grown into an unbreakable six-year relationship, Harian Metro reported.
Muhammad Razif Daud, 42, said he found the male cat in a dire state, with both eyes protruding from their sockets in Bandar Baru Uda, Johor Baru, six years ago.
He named the cat Wuhan Ramadhani Fitriah, or Wuhan, after finding it during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
“There is a possibility that Wuhan was involved in a hit-and-run incident, and without being rescued, it might have died.
“However, it was destined to live a long life, although it eventually became blind,” he said.
Muhammad Razif, who also rescued another blind cat named Hajah Rahmah Arafah, said he has been involved in animal rescue since 2012.
Having initially rescued three cats, he said the number of rescues eventually grew to 35 but could care for up to 20 strays at a time due to financial and physical strain of caring for so many animals.
“For me, the measure of success is not how many lives we save, but how far we are able to take responsibility for the animals we rescue,” he said.
A 5.43m-long crocodile weighing more than 600kg which was threatening villagers’ safety has been captured in Sarawak after a two-week hunt, Kosmo! reported.
Licensed crocodile catcher Jeferry Siew Seng Kwong said the reptile was hooked at noon at Kampung Sedi, Pulau Bruit, Daro, before his team hauled it ashore at 4pm.
He said the crocodile frequently entered a small river used by villagers for their daily activities.
“Residents here depend on the small river for their daily activities. That is why they feel threatened by the presence of the crocodile,” he said.
However, Jeferry warned that another potentially larger crocodile remained at large in the area.
