MALAYSIA’S 14 official overseas visits and Trade and Investment Missions (TIMs) since 2025 have generated RM59.5bil in potential investments, of which RM14.2bil has been approved, says Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani (pic).
The Investment, Trade and Industry Minister said the remaining RM45.3bil was still at various stages of negotiation and follow-up.
“Typically, an investment project takes between 18 and 24 months to materialise, depending on its scale and complexity, as well as on prevailing economic conditions,” he said in a written parliamentary reply yesterday to Kurniawan Naim Moktar (BN-Kinabatangan).
Kurniawan had asked about the total value of potential investments and actual trade generated through a series of official overseas visits from 2025 to September 2026.
Johari said the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) would continue its follow-up efforts, monitoring and facilitation to ensure that identified investment opportunities were translated into actual projects in the country.
He added that he had accompanied the Trade and Investment Missions led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
On trade, Johari said official visits to countries including Kenya, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Turkiye, Japan, Italy, France, South Korea, China, Thailand, India and Russia had yielded positive results, generating RM6.77bil in exports through high-level engagements.
