PETALING JAYA: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia on Friday (Oct 9) for a historic two-day state visit aimed at elevating bilateral relations between the two nations to a strategic partnership.
The visit, spanning Oct 9 to 10, comes at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. It marks Al Sisi’s first State Visit to the country since he assumed office in 2014.
According to a statement released by the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Friday, President Al Sisi will receive a formal State Welcoming Ceremony, followed by an audience with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and an official State Banquet hosted in his honour.
During his stay, the Egyptian leader is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The two leaders will review ongoing cooperation between Putrajaya and Cairo and discuss pressing regional and international issues.
Both leaders are also expected to witness the signing and exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) designed to deepen economic and diplomatic ties.
The diplomatic engagement signals a milestone step in strengthening the longstanding partnership between Malaysia and Egypt.
In 2025, the Arab Republic of Egypt was Malaysia’s 7th largest trading partner in Africa. Malaysia’s total trade with the Arab Republic of Egypt was valued at RM3.08bil (USD0.72 bil), with exports valued at RM2.55bil (USD0.60bil and imports at RM0.53bil (USD0.12bil). From January to August 2026, total trade between the two countries increased by 74.7% to RM3.49bil (USD0.87bil)
