KUALA LUMPUR: An aide to Datuk Seri Najib Razak has declined to comment on the former prime minister’s whereabouts when approached by reporters outside his Jalan Langgak Duta residence here on Friday (Sept 18).
Ahmad Lutfi Azhar, who arrived at the residence at about 4.35pm, was asked whether Najib had returned home and about the former Pekan MP’s family following the latest development involving him.
“Sorry, I can’t respond,” he said briefly.
His arrival drew the attention of media members and Najib’s supporters, several of whom remained gathered outside the residence following news of the former prime minister being granted a conditional pardon.
Among them was Siti Zalena Anuar, 43, who travelled from Lenggeng, Negri Sembilan, after work to show her support for Najib.
“I came from Lenggeng after work to show my support.
“We miss Datuk Seri Najib’s leadership. I have been his supporter for a long time,” she told the media.
Earlier, Najib was granted a conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to him paying a RM50mil fine.
The decision was made at the 64th meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya held on Friday (Sept 18).
The Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister’s Department said the conditional pardon had been granted with the consent of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
