PETALING JAYA: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has received a conditional pardon and house arrest for his conviction in the SRC International case.
This was the second time that the Pardons Board had decided on his conviction in this case.
In 2024, the board cut his sentence from 12 years to six years, and lowered his fine to RM50mil.
His original sentence after being found guilty of seven charges of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money laundering in the SRC International case was 12 years in prison and a RM210mil fine.
However, Najib still faces various jail sentences and fines in other cases as he is entangled in multiple legal battles.
Among others, he was sentenced in December 2025 on four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering involving RM2.28bil in 1MDB funds to 15 years in prison and fined RM11.38bil.
If he fails to pay, it could add up to 40 additional years in prison. He also faces an additional RM2.08 bil asset recovery order. That case is currently on appeal.
Najib also faces USD1.3bil (around RM5.25bil) after losing a civil suit in the High Court brought against him by SRC International.
He also faces six counts of criminal breach of trust involving RM6.6bil in government funds paid to International Petroleum Investment Company and a money laundering case involving RM27mil belonging to SRC International.
In addition, Najib faces an outstanding tax bill of RM1.69bil based on additional income tax assessments and penalties issued by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) for the assessment years 2011 to 2017.
On Sept 4, the Court of Appeal allowed Najib to pause the Inland Revenue Board's (IRB) bankruptcy notice against them pending his case at the Special Commissioners of Income Tax (SCIT).
