MELAKA: Don't retaliate against campaign vandalism, Adam Adli Abdul Halim has warned Pakatan Harapan supporters following reports of damaged election flags.
The Melaka PKR chairman urged supporters to exercise restraint and leave the matter to the authorities rather than take matters into their own hands.
"If we are subjected to such provocations, we must not retaliate. Police reports have been lodged, and we should leave it to the authorities to take appropriate action," he told reporters when met at the Kopilih Harapan programme in Pulau Gadong, Kledang on Wednesday (Nov 4).
Adam was responding to questions about two police reports concerning alleged damage to Pakatan campaign flags at two locations.
He said political parties must maintain discipline throughout the campaign, warning that acts of vandalism would benefit no one.
"Everyone should maintain discipline and uphold the good name of their respective parties.
"Nobody gains anything from vandalising or damaging another party's campaign materials.
"Such provocations may occur during elections, but that does not mean they should be accepted or allowed to become the norm," he said.
On possible breaches of election regulations, Adam said Pakatan had identified several incidents involving the conduct of candidates that could potentially contravene Election Commission (EC) rules and election laws.
He said the coalition had highlighted some of these concerns during a press conference earlier in the day.
"We have identified several incidents involving the conduct of candidates that carry the risk of breaching EC regulations and election laws.
"However, it is not our role to determine whether an offence has been committed.
"When such incidents arise, we gather the information, compile the facts and submit them to the EC for appropriate action," he said.
