MELAKA: Melaka Pakatan Harapan is continuing its preparations for the state polls without relying too heavily on negotiations with Barisan Nasional.
According to Sinar Harian, Melaka PKR Leadership Council acting chairman Adam Adli Abdul Halim said the coalition would have no issue contesting against Barisan in all seats at the coming state election, as it had already done so before.
"Even if we contest in all the seats, it is not an issue because that is how we did it previously," he said when asked about Pakatan's preparations for the state election.
Recently, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh indicated that the dissolution of the Melaka legislative assembly may be held "in two Fridays".
Meanwhile, Adam Adli said the competition between parties in the state election should not affect relations or harmony among the people in Melaka.
"In Melaka, even if we quarrel, compete and disagree, we must ultimately respect one another.
"When the election comes, we will fight. But throughout more than three years of the unity government in Melaka, Pakatan assemblymen have cooperated well with the state government," he said.
Adam Adli added that Pakatan wanted to ensure that elections were not seen as an arena that created division among the people.
"Whether we negotiate or not is no longer an issue. What is important is that the people must not be left with nothing from the competition.
"Pakatan will continue to face the election with full dedication and responsibility, while remaining focused on the interests of the people," he said.
