IPOH: Two men were killed while another was injured in a collision involving two lorries on the Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands road near here on Tuesday (Sept 15) night.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received a distress call at 8.36pm, with a team from the Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene about 20 minutes later.
He said the accident involved a lorry carrying sawdust and another transporting vegetables, with three men involved.
"A 42-year-old man who was trapped in one of the vehicles was successfully extricated using hydraulic rescue equipment before being taken by ambulance to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for treatment.
"Two other victims, aged 40 and 35, were pronounced dead at the scene and their remains were handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 16).
Sabarodzi said firefighters also carried out cleanup operations, including removing debris and oil spills from the road using a hose line and sawdust.
The situation was brought under control at 11pm and the operation ended at 1.15am after firefighters confirmed that there were no further hazards at the scene. – Bernama
