Diversity, harmony key to Malaysia's strength, says Zahid in Deepavali greeting

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's diversity has fostered mutual respect, shared joy and strong ties among its communities, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In conjunction with Deepavali Sunday (Nov 8), the Deputy Prime Minister urged Malaysians to continue preserving the harmony that underpins the nation's strength.

"This is the beauty of the Malaysia we love. Despite our different backgrounds, our diversity teaches us to share in one another's joy, respect each other and maintain strong ties within our communities.

"Let us continue to preserve this harmony, for therein lies our nation's true strength," he said in a Facebook post Saturday (Nov 7).

Ahmad Zahid also extended Deepavali greetings to all Hindus in Malaysia, particularly those in his hometown of Bagan Datuk.

"Happy Deepavali to everyone celebrating. May this year's festivities bring happiness and cherished memories with family and loved ones," he said. - Bernama
