Four Chinese nationals charged in Kedah with kidnapping compatriot


ALOR SETAR: Three men and a woman, all of Chinese nationality, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here Tuesday (Sept 15) to a charge of kidnapping a fellow national last month.

Huang Jian, 39; Wang Hao Yu, 33; Guan Siqi, 24; and Liu Tingjun, 46, claimed trial after the charge was read out to them in Mandarin before judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini.

The four, together with another individual who was charged separately, allegedly kidnapped Xiong Xi Qiao, 33, with the intention of secretly and wrongfully confining her at a house in Taman Amira, Jalan Langgar, here at about 8.40pm on Aug 7.

They were charged under Section 365 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34, which provides for a maximum of seven years' imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.

The court denied them bail and set Oct 11 for mention. – Bernama
