KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan has lodged a police report against Sepang Umno division chief Datuk Noorazli Said over his speech at the party’s general assembly which was allegedly insulting to the Catholic faith.
Warisan’s strategic communications director Christopher Masudal said he filed the report at Penampang district police headquarters on Monday (Sept 14), urging police to investigate the remarks.

He called on the authorities to investigate fairly and determine if the speech violated laws related to race, religion, and royalty (3R).
"When the church is used as an inappropriate analogy, it affects not just a few members of the clergy but thousands of the faithful," Christopher said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 15).
He said that freedom of religion is guaranteed under the Federal Constitution and urged political leaders to safeguard religious sensitivities in Malaysia’s multiracial, multi-faith society.

He urged Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to clarify whether Noorazli’s remarks reflect the party’s position, and if not, what disciplinary action would be taken.
"The police report is not intended to inflame religious or racial sentiments.
"It is an effort to preserve freedom of religion, mutual respect among believers, and Malaysia’s social harmony," Christopher added, urging all political leaders to treat religion with respect despite political differences.
