Lawyer Haniff Khatri's home damaged in fire

PETALING JAYA: The home of  lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla was damaged in a fire early Tuesday (Sept 15).

Sinar Harian quoted Haniff as saying that the fire occurred at the upstairs living room.

However, the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

"I was at home with my wife and two children at the time. I was watching television downstairs and while the children were upstairs.

"My daughter came out of her room to get a glass a water and spotted the fire. She then screamed for me," he said.

He added that his attempts to extinguish the fire were futile and he rushed his family out of the house soon after before contacting the Fire and Rescue Department.

When contacted, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said that the three-building terrace home in Bandar Country Homes in Rawang had varying degrees of damage.

"The first unit was around 80% destroyed, with the second and third around 20% and 5% burnt respectively. No victims were involved.

"The operation to extinguish the fire concluded at 6.35am," he said.
