KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan Umno delegate Datuk Zawawi Othman has apologised to PAS for his previous “tiga jahanam” remarks against three of the party’s leaders, saying the matter should be left in the past.

The Pasir Puteh Umno division chief said he was extending a hand to PAS to mend fences and work together in upholding the religion and uniting the people.

“PAS, I want to apologise for my previous ‘tiga jahanam’ remarks. That was an issue of the past.

“Now, I am extending a hand for us to mend the fences and start working together to uphold our religion in this country, and unite our people,” he said when debating the Umno president’s policy speech at the 2026 Umno General Assembly on Saturday (Sept 12).

In 2022, Zawawi labelled PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah and party election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as “tiga jahanam”, blaming them for the collapse of Umno-PAS ties under the Muafakat Nasional banner.
