KUALA LUMPUR: Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has dispelled rumours that his relations with party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi have turned sour.

Mohamad, who is fondly known as Tok Mat, said both were always in close contact despite it not being publicly known.

“Why would I mention it if I meet the president at night? Whenever there are issues, I speak with the president and he has never rejected this,” he said when winding up debates at the 2026 Umno Annual General Assembly here on Saturday (Sept 12).

Tok Mat said the deputy’s role was always to assist the leader, urging the grassroots to also do the same.

“What’s important is that we stay united. No one will trust a fractured party,” he said.
