Personal grudge believed to be motive behind woman being doused with petrol, set alight, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: A personal grudge is believed to be the motive behind a man allegedly dousing a woman with petrol before setting her alight at a lottery outlet in Taman Pusat Kepong here on Aug 9.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the 59-year-old local man was arrested in Kepong yesterday.

“We will apply for a remand order against the suspect today to assist in investigations.

“Initial investigations found that the motive was a personal grudge linked to lottery numbers.

“The suspect and victim are believed to be unrelated but knew each other,” he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters on Wednesday (Aug 19).
