China company eyes working with Sabah GLCs to develop biomass energy

KOTA KINABALU: A major China based energy company is looking at potential tie up with government linked companies for development of biomass green energy in Sabah.

Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said he had met with Energy China led by Yingfei Huang, who is the vice president CEIG (Malaysia) who was keen to invest in Sabah's green energy potentials.

"They are looking at turning biomass into energy. They are keen for partners preferably GLCs with oil palm plantations for developing biomass energy," he said after receiving a courtesy call by the company officials at his office here.

The company had also briefed on the latest developments, activities and plans of China Energy in Sabah.

Masidi said he welcomed China Energy’s efforts to explore investment opportunities that could potentially benefit the development and economic growth of Sabah.
