BANTING: The discovery of a 49-year-old man’s body in an oil palm plantation here has triggered a murder investigation, leading to the arrest of eight suspects.
Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said police were alerted to the incident at around 5pm on Sunday (Aug 9) after the victim was found motionless among the palm trees.
Medical personnel subsequently confirmed the man was dead at the scene.
"Following initial inquiries, police launched an operation that led to the arrest of eight individuals believed to be connected to the case," Supt Mohd Akmalrizal said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 11).
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or a prison sentence of between 30 and 40 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
Police have not yet disclosed the victim's identity or a potential motive as investigations remain ongoing.
