Nepal floods: One of 55 missing Malaysians confirmed alive, reunited with family


PETALING JAYA: One of the 55 missing Malaysians who was previously uncontactable has personally gone to the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu on Oct 1, says Malaysia Solidarity: Families in Hope (MASFIH).

“A family has finally been reunited with their loved one.

“For MASFIH and the family, the discovery of a Malaysian who was safe on Day 37 was a great relief and very meaningful.

“We are very happy and grateful that one of the 55 Malaysians who were previously uncontactable has now been found safe and returned to their family,” MASFIH spokesman Dr Manivannan Rethinamit said in a statement on Friday (Oct 2).

Floods and debris flow on Aug 26, triggered by ice and rock avalanches in the upper catchment area of Lhende Khola in Tibet, killed over 1,450 people. Thousands remain unaccounted for.
