PORT DICKSON: More than 22,000 military and police personnel, alongside their spouses, began casting their ballots on Tuesday (July 28) as early voting opened for the Negri Sembilan state election.
Port Dickson, home to several military camps, accounted for the largest bloc of early voters as early polling got under way.
The Bagan Pinang state seat recorded the highest number of voters with 7,021 army personnel and spouses, alongside 25 police personnel and spouses.
The Linggi seat has 2,222 army personnel and spouses, together with 35 police personnel and spouses.

Official figures show the Port Dickson constituency leads with 9,706 early voters, followed by Tampin with 4,701, Rembau with 2,355, Rasah with 2,145, Seremban with 1,635, Jelebu with 1,175, Jempol with 333 and Kuala Pilah with 289.
Despite rumbles of thunder overhead at the Army Basic Training Centre here, personnel and their spouses turned out in a constant stream to cast their votes.
Polling day is scheduled for Aug 1.
