SEREMBAN: The Election Commission (EC) is making final checks to ensure that the early voting process for the 16th Negri Sembilan State Election on Tuesday (July 28) runs smoothly.
EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said all requirements and equipment for the early voting process at 38 polling centres have been prepared, and the commission is ready to ensure that voting proceeds in an orderly manner as planned.
"The early voting process tomorrow will involve 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, as well as 5,455 police personnel and their spouses," he said when contacted on Monday (July 27).
A check at several early polling centres, including the Seremban District Police Headquarters, Negri Sembilan Contingent Police Headquarters and Kem Segenting in Port Dickson, found EC staff carrying out finishing touches.
Police and military personnel were also observed helping EC staff at the voting areas, deployed according to their designated channels.
Early voting will get underway at 8am on Tuesday across all centres, with closing times staggered depending on location and the number of voters.
A total of 103 candidates are vying for the 36 state seats up for grabs, following the official dissolution of the Negri Sembilan State Assembly on June 5.
