IPOH: A car plunged into a mine near Klinik Desa Kg Sg Terap in Batu Gajah, with no victims found inside.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a distress call regarding the incident was received on Wednesday (July 22) at 11.01pm.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a car submerged in the mine with only part of its roof visible above the water.
The operations commander contacted the police to obtain information on the vehicle, but police confirmed that they had not received any reports regarding the incident, Sabarodzi said.
The incident commander conducted an assessment before instructing firefighters to don personal flotation devices and enter the water to inspect the vehicle.
Firefighters checked the front section of the car and found no one inside.
He added that a thorough inspection by firefighters and police confirmed that there were no victims trapped in the car.
Police later arranged for a tow truck and the vehicle was successfully pulled out of the mine before being handed over to police for further action, he said.
