KUALA LUMPUR: The haj fee for Muassasah pilgrims in the low-income B40 group will remain at RM15,000 per person for the 1448H/2027 season, with Haj Financial Assistance (Hafis) maintained at RM18,300, or 55% of the total cost.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan (pic) said the assistance for the group includes a RM1,000 government subsidy, extended for the fifth consecutive year to first-time pilgrims.
For pilgrims in the M40 group, he said the fee has been set at RM23,500 per person, with Hafis assistance of RM9,800, equivalent to 29% of the total cost, while T20 pilgrims will be required to pay the full cost of RM33,300 per person.
"The Madani Government, through Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), remains committed to ensuring that the haj pilgrimage can be performed sustainably and equitably by maintaining the Muassasah haj cost at RM33,300 per person for the 1448H/2027 season, unchanged for the fourth consecutive year," Zulkifli said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 9).
He said TH had allocated RM234mil to provide targeted Hafis assistance for the season.
Despite inflationary pressures on services and the impact of geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East, Zulkifli said TH had managed to contain cost increases through efficient governance without compromising service quality.
He said TH’s service standards were reflected in Malaysia winning the Labbaytum Diamond Award for the second time during this year's haj season.
"The government and TH will continue to monitor the cost structure in line with the global environment to ensure the welfare of pilgrims and the smooth management of their pilgrimage," he said.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli said early preparations were already under way for the 1448H/2027 haj season, with offer letters to be issued in stages beginning this month.
He also advised prospective pilgrims to prepare themselves thoroughly in terms of health, finances and religious knowledge, in line with the concept of istito’ah (capability).
Zulkifli also expressed confidence that the close relationship between Malaysia, TH and the Saudi Arabian government would strengthen cooperation and the delivery of high-quality haj services to Malaysian pilgrims. – Bernama
