REGISTRATION for this year’s “Love Penang Run” is now open.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the 5.5km run targeting 10,000 participants would start at Batu Kawan State Stadium at 7am on Nov 22.
“After four years, ‘Love Penang Run’ continues to grow as an event that not only promotes a healthy lifestyle, but also carries a greater message – bringing people together through sports,” he said during a press conference at Komtar.
Participants stand to win two cars offered in the special draw. The cars, both Perodua Axia, are sponsored by Datuk Tom Khoo who is Penang Forward Sports Club (PFSC) adviser.
Chow thanked Khoo and other sponsors for their continued support, which had helped the community run grow over the years.
“We want our people not only to be active in sports, but also to have opportunities to interact, build relationships and further strengthen the unity that exists among us,” he said.
The early bird registration fee is RM20 that includes a T-shirt, finisher’s medal and goodie bag.
The event is jointly organised by Penang Sports Council (MSNPP) and PFSC, with support of the state government and Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP).
PFSC president Datuk Lim Choo Hooi said the run would start and finish in front of the stadium.
“We have ample parking space at the stadium,” he said.
Also present were state youth, sports and health committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, MSNPP director Harry Chai Heng Hua and sponsor representatives.
