KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid KL will carry out track replacement work on the Kelana Jaya Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) in stages covering seven phases, from Sept 13 to September 2027.
Rapid KL, in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 9) announced that the improvement work was being carried out to ensure that the track infrastructure was always at a high level of safety and reliability.
According to the statement, stations involved in the track replacement work would begin operating at 9.30am compared to the usual 6am, while stations not involved will operate as usual according to schedule.
The track replacement work involves Gombak and Taman Melati stations on Sept 13, 20 and 27, followed by the second phase for Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum stations (Nov 15, 22 and 29), as well as the third phase covering Dato’ Keramat, Jelatek and Setiawangsa stations (Jan 10, 17 and 24, 2027).
"The fourth phase, which starts in 2027, involves Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum stations on March 14, 21 and 28, followed by the fifth phase involving Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC and Ampang Park stations on May 9, 16 and 23," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the sixth phase involves Taman Jaya, Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum stations on July 11, 18 and 25, while the final phase involves Gombak and Taman Melati stations on Sept 12, 19 and 26.
Ticket machines at each station involved will be temporarily closed until 9.30am and users can obtain tickets at the station counters while Rapid KL and Touch 'n Go product users can continue their journey as usual.
"Rapid KL will also provide a free shuttle bus service connecting the stations involved during the track replacement works," the statement said.
To facilitate passenger movement, station staff, auxiliary police and 'Prasarana Troopers' volunteers will be stationed at the affected locations, while signboards and information leaflets will also be provided.
Kelana Jaya Line users are advised to check the track replacement work schedule and alternative bus movements via the website www.myrapid.com.my and Rapid KL's official social media channels.
"This track replacement work is important to ensure that the Kelana Jaya Line infrastructure continues to be at a high level of safety and reliability to support more reliable rail services in the future.
