PETALING JAYA: Continuous overnight rain resulted in localized flash floods, fallen trees, and a minor landslide across several areas in Penang early Sunday morning (Oct 25).
At approximately 1.30 am, a stretch of the elevated Paya Terubong Paired Road (Bukit Kukus) was flooded with knee-deep water, stranding two vehicles. Passersby assisted in warning oncoming traffic.
In Balik Pulau, a six-meter-tall durian tree collapsed onto a house and a car along Jalan Pantai Acheh at 12.50am, causing property damage.
Firefighters and personnel from the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) cleared the fallen tree. The 50-year-old vehicle owner was uninjured.
A separate tree-fall incident occurred along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in front of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) office, partially obstructing the three-lane road.
Additionally, a minor landslide was reported near the Lebuhraya Thean Tek and Lengkok Angsana junction in Farlim, where rainwater washed sand and debris from a hillside onto the roadway.
Traffic in several affected areas moved slowly as rain persisted through 8.00am.
