Malaysia strongly condemns extremist attack on church in Jordan's Karak

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has strongly condemned the extremist attack targeting the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in Hamoud village, located within Jordan's Karak Governorate.

In a press release issued by Wisma Putra on Sunday (Oct 25), the Foreign Affairs Ministry extended Malaysia's deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as well as to the families of the victims. Malaysia also expressed solidarity with Jordan during this difficult time.

The Ministry denounced the deliberate attack on a house of worship as a grave violation of the sanctity of religious sites and a heinous act of extremism that has no place in any society. Reaffirming its stance alongside Jordan, Malaysia rejected extremism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of motive or justification.

Furthermore, the government reiterated its commitment to strengthening the close, longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries, including defending shared values of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence.
