KOTA KINABALU: The government will continue efforts to refine the implementation of targeted fuel subsidies in Sabah and Sarawak by taking into account feedback from the grassroots, says Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.
The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak) said ongoing discussions involving stakeholders as well as state and federal agencies would continue to ensure the initiative is implemented smoothly without affecting the quality of life of the people, particularly those living in rural areas.
Mustapha said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had also taken the time to personally listen to public feedback on the challenges faced in implementing the Budi Diesel initiative in Sabah.
"Alhamdulillah, thank you to the Prime Minister. Despite his busy official schedule, he still made time to personally hear the grassroots' views on the challenges faced in implementing the BUDI Diesel initiative, especially in Sabah," he said in a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday (July 16).
"Upholding the principle that 'the voice of the people is a sacred voice,' the concerns of the people, whether in urban or rural areas, will always be heard by the Madani government. Let us continue to take care of Malaysia together," he said.
The Budi Diesel initiative was implemented nationwide from July 1, with eligible private diesel vehicle owners receiving a basic quota of 200 litres per month at the subsidised price of RM2.10 per litre.
Owners of eligible sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and pickup trucks may apply for an additional 100 litres per month, subject to meeting the stipulated criteria.- Bernama
