KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Sabah on Thursday (Sept 10) evening for a two-day visit, with several official programmes scheduled.

Anwar arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) at 6.45pm and was welcomed by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to join the Sabah leaders for a dinner at the Magellan Sutera Harbour.

On Friday (Sept 11) morning, Anwar is scheduled to chair the 2026 MTPMA63 meeting at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).

The meeting, which is also expected to be attended by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Hajiji, will focus on progress in implementing matters related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and issues concerning the interests of Sabah and Sarawak.

After the meeting, Anwar is scheduled to perform Friday prayers at Masjid Jamek Kampung Likas before visiting the temporary evacuation centre for victims of the Kampung Numbak fire at Dewan Serbaguna Damai.

On Aug 30, a fire at Kampung Numbak destroyed about 200 water-village homes, with three victims found burnt to death. — Bernama
