Man killed, six-year-old seriously hurt in motorcycle-4WD collision in Bentong

BENTONG: A man was killed while a child was seriously injured after the motorcycle they were on collided with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at KM15 of Jalan Utama Mempaga, in front of Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan here, on Tuesday (July 14) night.

In the incident at 10.48pm, the 33-year-old victim, who was riding a motorcycle, was confirmed dead at the scene, reported Sinar Harian.

Bentong OCPD Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the accident involved a 4WD vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man and the motorcycle ridden by the victim, with a six-year-old boy as pillion rider.

He said initial investigations found that both vehicles were travelling from opposite directions.

“At the time, the 4WD was travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Raub and the driver is believed to have overtaken several vehicles in a double-line area upon arriving at the scene.

“The vehicle then entered the opposite lane before colliding with the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

“As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist suffered serious head injuries, as well as injuries to his hands and legs, and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 15).

Supt Zaiham said the pillion rider suffered serious injuries to his left leg and is receiving treatment at Bentong Hospital.

He added that the driver and passengers of the 4WD were not injured.
