
KOTA KINABALU: A special education teacher was killed in a seven-vehicle pileup along the flyover heading to Luyang near here early Monday (Sept 14).
The 44-year-old, identified as Arizal Wahid, was pinned to his seat due to the impact of the accident and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
Arizal was believed to be headed to work at SK Sembulan before the accident.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Hanafiah Tunjol said they received a call at around 6.33am and rescuers arrived on the scene at around 6.41am.
“Our men found one victim pinned in his seat, and he was extricated using special rescue equipment,” he said in a statement.
However, medical officials on site pronounced the victim dead thereafter.
Arizal’s body was handed over to police for further action while other rescue personnel completed operations at the scene at 7.55am.
