PETALING JAYA: His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, have urged Malaysians to take care of their health and wear face masks amid haze conditions in the country.
Their Majesties said unhealthy air quality can negatively impact one’s health and result in various complications, especially those related to the respiratory system.
“The rakyat, especially senior citizens, children, those with respiratory conditions as well as those who work outdoors, should always take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the negative impact of air pollution,” said the King and Queen through a post on the Facebook of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar on Tuesday (Sept 15).
Their Majesties also advised the rakyat to reduce outdoor activities whenever unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings are recorded.
“The rakyat should also stay sufficiently hydrated, stay alert towards official updates and closely API developments to ensure the health and safety of both their loved ones and themselves are taken care of,” said the King and Queen.
Their Majesties also expressed hope that the rakyat always prioritise health and take the necessary precautions amidst current hazy conditions.
As of 8pm on Tuesday, 26 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy air quality after API readings there ranged between 101 to 200.
