StarProperty Awards 2026 Realtor Edition honours real estate excellence

PETALING JAYA: Real estate professionals and agencies were recognised for their achievements and contributions to Malaysia’s property industry at the StarProperty Awards 2026 Realtor Edition.

In his welcoming address, Star Media Group (SMG) group chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt said real estate professionals played an important role in connecting buyers, sellers and investors while helping Malaysians make some of their most significant financial decisions.

He said their work went beyond closing transactions, as they provided market knowledge and guidance to help clients understand property values, assess their options and make informed decisions.

“At the heart of this role is the ability to provide context, while trust and professionalism remain among the industry’s most valuable assets,” he said.

Seng Fatt said Malaysia had more than 56,000 registered real estate negotiators, over 4,000 probationary estate agents and more than 3,000 registered estate agents, according to the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers (Bovaep).

He said the industry was evolving as technology transformed how properties were marketed and discovered, while clients had greater access to information and choices.

However, Seng Fatt said professional guidance remained important in helping clients interpret market developments, understand trade-offs and identify properties that suited their needs.

This year’s awards recognised achievements across 21 categories and 31 subcategories, with a total of 96 recipients.

Seng Fatt said the awards recognised the dedication, discipline and expertise required to excel in a competitive industry, while thanking the independent panel of judges for ensuring the selection process was based on merit.

He added that SMG believed recognising excellence would encourage progress in the property sector by giving deserving professionals and agencies greater visibility and sharing practices that could benefit the wider industry.

Seng Fatt also thanked the event’s partners and supporters for their contributions, including Bank Rakyat and UOB Malaysia.

Among others who attended were SMG chief operating officer Lydia Wang and SMG managing editor Brian Martin.
