PETALING JAYA: Gemas assemblyman Ridzuan Ahmad has left Bersatu effective July 10, ahead of the upcoming Negri Sembilan state election.

According to Sinar Harian, the incumbent assemblyman also informed his resignation as Bersatu Tampin chief, through a letter dated July 11.

He told the media that the decision was made to give the party space to appoint new leadership who can better to lead the Tampin division and was not influenced by any party.

"I feel I need to find a new platform in my political struggle. God willing, I will make a decision in the near future," he said.

When asked whether his decision was related to the party's current internal turmoil, Ridzuan refused to comment further.

He explained that the decision was made after careful consideration.

“I also wanted to express my highest appreciation and gratitude to the entire party leadership, division members and all parties who have provided cooperation, support and trust in me throughout my tenure,” he said while adding that he prayed for the party to continue to progress and succeed in the future.
