Johor polls: Anwar wants to be remembered as a PM loved by all

JOHOR BARU: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants to be remembered as a Prime Minister who is loved by all.

He said he has to serve everybody as the country’s top leader, regardless of their race or which state they come from.

“Johor is my state, Malaysia is my country. I, as the Prime Minister, must show my love to my people.

“I am already old. When I retire one day, I want to be remembered by the Malays, Chinese, Indians and those in Sabah and Sarawak as a leader who took care of them,” he said during a dinner event with the Chinese community in Eco Spring, Tebrau here on Saturday (July 4).

Anwar said he came to Johor not to fight with anyone as he wanted every state in the country to succeed.

He said Malaysia’s policies and peace have attracted data centres to enter Johor, Kedah, Negri Sembilan and Melaka.

“If the state and federal governments are aligned, it is easier to work together,” he said.

Anwar added that the rakyat have the right to decide their own future without bowing to pressure.

“Don’t listen to people say if the Chinese don’t vote, a certain party will win or if the Chinese vote, a certain party will not win.

“You as the people have the duty to vote and save Johor and the country,” he added.

Johor will go to the polls on July 11.
