12-year-old dies in croc attack

LAHAD DATU: A 12-year-old boy was killed after being attacked by a crocodile in a river at Dent Heaven, Kampung Tagupi, here on Monday (June 29).

The victim’s body was located at about 2pm.

Lahad Datu deputy OCPD Supt Jimmy Panyau said further investigations found that the victim had been dragged into the river by the reptile.

"The victim was later found at about 2pm by family members and members of the public," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.

He added that further checks on the victim's body found several crocodile bite marks.

"The case has therefore been classified as sudden death," he said.
