EC issues 24,677 postal ballots papers for 16th Johor Election


JOHOR BARU: The Election Commission (EC) has issued 24,677 postal ballot papers to eligible voters for the 16th Johor Election.

EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said election officials on Monday (July 29) sent out the postal ballot papers across all 56 state constituencies, as provided under Regulation 3 of the Election (Postal Voting) Regulations 2003.

He said of the total, 23,288 postal ballot papers were issued to voters under the Form 1A category involving election officials, EC members and officers, police personnel, military personnel and media practitioners.

"A total of 1,044 postal ballot papers were issued under the Form 1B category for Malaysians residing abroad, while 345 were issued under the Form 1C category involving agencies and organisations," he said in a statement here on Monday.

Khairul Shahril said the issuance of postal ballot papers was carried out in the presence of representatives of all contesting candidates.

Meanwhile, he reminded postal voters to mark their ballot papers and complete the Identity Declaration Form (Form 2) correctly before returning them to the respective constituency returning officers by 5 pm on polling day on July 11.

He also reminded voters to keep their votes confidential by not taking photos of postal ballot papers or sharing them on social media.

A total of 172 candidates are contesting the Johor state election, with early voting scheduled for July 7.  – Bernama
