Sabah Electricity launches statewide load shedding amid supply issues

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity will be conducting a statewide load shedding exercise due to a lack of supply capacity in the state grid system.

The state's utility company stated that the supply disruption was due to a disturbance at an offshore gas platform, which affected the gas supply to several independent power producers (IPPs).

It said that the temporary power disconnect was necessary to ensure the stability of the state electricity grid system.

“Sabah Electricity understands the inconvenience which consumers are bound to experience, but we are trying our best to minimise the duration of disruption,” it said on Monday (June 29).

Details of the areas affected and other information on load shed timing would be updated on the Sabah Electricity Careline Facebook page.
