One drowned in boat capsize incident off Pulau Sayak


SUNGAI PETANI: One fisherman drowned while five others survived after their boat capsized near Pulau Sayak around noon on Monday (June 29).

Kuala Muda District Police Chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan, when contacted, confirmed receiving information about the 12.10pm incident.

“All of the victims are local fishermen.

“They have been brought ashore via Tanjung Dawai. The deceased was 27 years old, while the five survivors are aged between 25 and 35," he said.

He added that the body of the deceased has been sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) for a post-mortem.

"Meanwhile, the five survivors were given treatment at Tanjung Dawai," he said.

It is understood that during the incident, all the fishermen involved were on their way back to Tanjung Dawai after netting fish in the waters off Batu Maung, Penang. – Bernama
