YONG PENG: MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon claimed that his Facebook Page had suffered reduced reach over the past two months, with many of his posts displaying what he described as "technical issues", making them less visible to followers.

The drop in reach prompted the Yong Peng incumbent to urge supporters to help spread his campaign messages online by liking, commenting on and sharing his posts.

"My Facebook page has been restricted for two months.

"Many people have asked why they have been seeing fewer of my posts.

“Every post shows there are technical issues. There is nothing I can do," he said during a ceramah here on Saturday night (June 27).

Ling appealed to supporters to search for his Facebook page directly and like, comment on and share his posts so that more Yong Peng residents could see updates on his work in the constituency.

"If you think I've done well, give me a 'Like'. If you think I've done a good job, leave me a comment.

"If you think I've done a great job, share my posts so that more people in Yong Peng can see what we have done over the years," he said.

Ling also noted that Malaysia's current political landscape meant elections should no longer be viewed simply as contests between the government and the opposition.

He said Barisan Nasional formed the Johor state government while its rivals were part of the Federal Government, and that voters should instead judge candidates based on their ability to deliver.

"This is the time to compete on capability and performance.

"If you have results, show them. If you can deliver, show the people. Don't just keep pointing fingers," he said.

Ling also took aim at attempts to portray ministerial allocations as election achievements, saying ministers were merely carrying out their responsibilities.

Referring to recent allocations announced by Federal ministers in Johor, he said such assistance should be expected as part of their duties.

"If you are a minister, helping businesses, schools and the people is what you are supposed to do," he said.

Ling also urged voters to judge him and the younger generation of MCA leaders based on their current performance rather than the party's history.

Ling will defend the Yong Peng seat against DAP's Yong Hui Yi in the Johor state election on July 11. Early voting is on July 7.
