91 illegal immigrants nabbed in four Sabah districts


KOTA KINABALU: A total of 91 illegal immigrants were arrested by Sabah Immigration Department during an integrated operations at migrant hotspots across four districts late Wednesday (June 24).

In a statement posted on Facebook page, Sabah Immigration Department said a total of 373 individuals were screened during the operation, including 151 in Kota Kinabalu.

Of these, 46 foreigners were detained for suspected immigration offences including for not possessing valid travel documents and violating pass conditions under the Immigration Act 1959/63.

“The arrests in Kota Kinabalu involved 14 men, 18 women, and 11 children of Filipino nationality.

“The enforcement team also detained two Indonesian men and one Pakistani man,” the statement said.

In Kudat, screening was carried out on 46 individuals that led to the arrest of nine foreigners—one man, four women, and four children.

In Tawau, the operation conducted together with Road Transport Department and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) saw a total of 159 foreigners screened, of which 21 Indonesians and Filipinos were detained.
