MELAKA: PKR cannot be strong as a party if it is consumed by internal clashes, says its outgoing deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar.
“We cannot be strong as an organisation if there is a party within the party, two captains steering one ship, or the existence of an invisible hand, a hidden power structure behind the visible power structure,” she said in her opening address at the joint Wanita Keadilan and Angkatan Muda Keadilan congress in Ayer Keroh on Friday (Aug 14).

“We also cannot be strong as an organisation as long as our energy is consumed by internal disputes. Every hour we spend fighting and quarrelling among ourselves is an hour we are not spending on winning the hearts of the people,” she added.
Nurul Izzah emphasised that the party’s primary focus should remain on democratising the economy, competing to do good and winning elections.

“Not every task will be easy,” she acknowledged.
Her remarks follow recent high-profile exits from the party, including former key leaders Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
The annual PKR national congress, which opened on Thursday (Aug 13), concludes on Sunday (Aug 16).
