PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has clarified that it supports the entry of Pejuang into Perikatan Nasional but objects to the inclusion of Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM).
The party said a report published by a Malay newspaper on the matter was inaccurate and misleading.
In a statement on Wednesday (June 24), Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said the report was incorrect and needed an immediate correction.
The newspaper report was titled “Lapan MT PN Bantah Penyertaan Wawasan, Pejuang”.
Tun Faisal Ismail said Bersatu only opposed the admission of PCM, not Pejuang.
He urged the media outlet to amend its report to avoid public confusion over the coalition's stance.
“The objection to PCM was based on concerns that its entry could trigger internal conflict within PN, as well as issues over the application process,” he said.
Tun Faisal Ismail said the application was submitted under the name of PCM.
However, the leadership details provided were linked to Parti Wawasan Negara.
He noted this conflict existed despite changes in the party name and leadership that have yet to be approved by the Registrar of Societies.
He also cited remarks by Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu on the matter.
Ahmad Faizal reportedly said the PN leadership had been urged to accept PCM hastily without proper consideration of the legal implications under the Societies Act 1966.
