Ministers to answer questions on PM’s behalf

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to attend the Pre-Council of Rulers meeting and the Conference of Rulers later this week, with Cabinet ministers set to answer questions on his behalf during Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat.

Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul informed the House yesterday that ministers would respond to questions addressed to the Prime Minister today and Thursday due to his commitments at the two meetings.

He reminded MPs that Parliament remains the country’s highest democratic institution and the primary forum for debating policies and legislating laws.

Johari urged members to continue using the Malay language properly, courteously and respectfully throughout the sitting.

In conjunction with the 70th anniversary of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, he also called on MPs to uphold the dignity of the national language and ensure parliamentary debates remained informed, substantive and reflective of a mature democracy.
